DIAMOND INFORMATION & BUYING GUIDE FOR YOUR NEXT BESPOKE PIECE

WHY YOU SHOULD TAKE CARE OF YOUR DIAMONDS

Diamonds are often seen as a symbol of love and commitment, which is why it’s so important to take care of them. While diamonds are one of the most durable substances on the planet, they are not invincible. Diamonds can chip or bruise if not taken care of properly, so it’s important to be aware of how to care for them. Whether that be a diamond for a ring, a necklace/pendant, a bangle/bracelet or earrings, you should always take the time to care for your diamonds.

If you’re thinking about buying a diamond, it’s important to do your research first. Diamonds come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colours, so it’s important to know what you’re looking for. It’s also important to know the Four Cs of diamonds: carat weight, colour, clarity, and cut. Once you have an idea of what you want, it’s time to start shopping around. Diamonds are a big investment, so it’s important to compare prices and find a reputable dealer before making a purchase.

CARING FOR YOUR DIAMOND

Once you have your diamond, it’s important to take care of it. Diamonds should be cleaned regularly with a mild soap and water solution. Avoid using harsh chemicals or cleaners as they can damage the diamond. It’s also important to avoid exposing diamonds to extreme heat or cold, as this can also cause damage. Diamonds should be stored in a soft cloth pouch or jewellery box when not worn. It is also ideal to insure your diamond in case of theft or loss; this will keep you covered should any unfortunate event occur.

THE 4C’S OF DIAMOND INFORMATION

There are many factors that come into play when considering the 4C’s of your diamond: the clarity, cut, colour and carat weight. A clarity grade of FL means that the diamond is perfect and has no blemishes or inclusions. A clarity grade of I3 means that the diamond has visible inclusions which may be evident to the naked eye.

When choosing a diamond, it is important to consider the "4 C's": Carat weight, Cut, Clarity, and Colour. All four factors induce a fifth factor - the price of the diamond. Diamonds with fewer blemishes and inclusions are more expensive because they are rarer. Diamonds with a good cut will reflect light well and appear sparkly. Diamonds with a colourless grade (D-F) are more expensive because they are rarer. The carat weight is how a diamond is measured and is determined by how much the diamond

CUT

When shopping for diamonds, it is important to keep in mind the 4 Cs of Diamonds: Cut, Clarity, Carat, and Colour. Of these, the cut is one of the most important factors in determining a diamond's value. The cut of a diamond refers to the angles and proportions of the facets and how well they interact with light. A well-cut diamond will appear brilliant and full of life, while a poorly-cut diamond will appear dull and lifeless. The other Cs are also important, but the cut is one of the most important factors in determining a diamond's beauty.

WHEN CONSIDERING THE CUT OF YOUR DIAMOND

When considering the cut, it is important to keep in mind the different types of cuts available. Sometimes, the cut is often mistaken for the shape of the diamond, but the cut actually refers to how rough the diamond Is cut to maximise the weight. The most popular type of cut is the round brilliant cut, which has 58 facets and creates a dazzling display of light. Other popular cuts include the princess cut, emerald cut, pear shape cut, and marquise cut. Each type of cut has its own unique sparkle, so it is important to choose the right one for you.

CLARITY

Diamonds are fascinating gemstones that have captivated people for centuries. Part of their allure is the unique way that they are formed, as well as the vast array of colours and sizes that they come in. However, another key factor in a diamond's value is its clarity. Diamonds are graded on a scale from Flawless (FL) to Imperfect (I3). The clarity of a diamond is judged based on the number, size, relief, nature, and position of its inclusions.

Inclusions are imperfections within the diamond that can affect its overall appearance. While some inclusions are so small that they can only be seen under magnification, others can be easily seen with the naked eye. Diamonds with fewer and smaller inclusions are typically more valuable than those with more visible imperfections. When choosing a diamond, it is important to consider both the size and visibility of the inclusions, as well as your budget.

COLOUR

The Diamond Colour Grading Scale ranges from D (no hue) to Z (a yellowish or brownish-hued Diamond). Quite often, diamonds will have a tint of yellow or brown. Diamonds in the D-F range are considered "colourless" and are one of the most rare; therefore, making them the most valuable. However, near-colourless diamonds (G-J) are much more common and offer great value for money.

It's not until you get to the I-J range that you start noticing hints of colour; even so, it depends on how you view the diamond. When viewed face-up, the diamond will appear perfectly white; however, when viewed face-down against a completely white background, you will be able to detect the colour much more easily. Of course, diamonds come in a range of colours; however, coloured diamonds are typically referred to as "fancies."

CARAT WEIGHT

Carat weight is measured in carats, with one carat equalling 100 points or approximately 0.2 grams. Diamonds increase in weight much faster than they increase in actual face-up diameter. For example, an ideal 1.00-carat diamond will measure approximately 6.5mm in width, while a 2.00-carat diamond will measure approximately 8.2mm in width. Additionally, the proportion of the weight of the diamond increase is not proportional to the appearance size increase.

When selecting a diamond's carat weight, personal preference is the most important factor to consider. However, finger size, practicality, and the characteristics of the other diamond elements should also be taken into account. For example, a large diamond may look stunning on its own but may be overwhelmed by a setting with many smaller diamonds. Ultimately, choosing the right carat weight is a matter of personal taste and budget.
